World Environment Day

World Environment Day is a global event which is organized by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). World Environment Day has been celebrated on 5th June from 1974 every year. One of the main objectives for celebrating & organizing this event is to spread awareness about Environment protection across the globe. The World Environment Day campaign encourages the world population to take action for environmental protection.

History of The World Environment Day

The United Nations general assembly (UNGA) launched the world Environment day in 1972, first day of the Stockholm conference but it was observed in the United States in 1974 after two years of its launch and the theme was “only one earth” every year various countries celebrate and host the world environment day with different themes.

The World Environment Day 2022 Theme

This year the first theme is going to follow “only one earth” focuses on “living sustainability in harmony with nature” truth cannot be denied – the planet is our only home, over 50 years the same theme was celebrated and host by the Stockholm. The 1982 conference related to environment was the first conference organised to make a environment a major issue by the United Nations conference.
